The passing of Burton “Burt” Keith Bayers of Pennfield, NB, occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB, surrounded by his children, on July 2, 2018. Born in Halifax, NS, on September 15, 1942, he was a son of the late James and Jenny (Fraser) Bayers.
A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Burt is survived by his children, Randy Bayers (Amanda) of Beaver Harbour, NB, Connie Harvey (Kirby) of Western Shore, NS, Lisa Dahr (Stephen) of Dartmouth, NS, and Sheila Hardy (Hal) of Fort McMurray, AB; grandchildren, Andrea, Riley, Kylee, Bowen, Ryan and Shelby; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Olivia and Jaxon; sisters, Audrey Lowe and Maureen Miller; his former wife, Anita Hawkins; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Burt was predeceased by his loving companion, Joan Kinney, his former wife, Colleen Tait, and several siblings.
Prior to retirement, Burt was employed as an Insurance Appraiser for Canavans and also worked at Port City Dodge, Dartmouth Dodge and Beacon Motors Pontiac. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed both hunting and fishing. Burt was a social guy, who enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren, and could often be found with his guitar in hand. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB. Resting at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The service will be held at the Pennfield Baptist Church, Pennfield, NB, on Saturday at 2 p.m., with Rev. Reg Ward officiating, followed by the interment at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. In Burt’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
