Blacks Harbour – The village’s annual Fog Festival will be held from Friday, Aug. 31 to Monday, Sept. 3 with something for all ages to enjoy.
Events kick off Friday, Aug. 31 with the seniors’ tea from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Stella Maris Hall then in the evening the Harbour Action Committee will be holding a kitchen party/dance tribute to Eloie Richard upstairs at the Patrick Connors Recreation Complex from 7:30 p.m. to midnight. All proceeds will go to the Blacks Harbour Home and School Association for playground equipment.
There will be a community breakfast Saturday, Sept. 1 at the Stella Maris Hall from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. while the soapbox derby on Brunswick Street will get under way at 9 a.m. and there will be a bake sale at the Wesleyan Church.
Connors Bros. and Ardagh Family Day Kids’ Carnival will be held on the school field from noon to 6 p.m. In the evening the Mike Chase Band will perform in the Main Street Park from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. before the fireworks at dusk.
A community church service will be held in Main Street Park Sunday, Sept. 2 starting at 10:30 a.m. Rain location is the Baptist Church.
There will be a craft/farmers’ market at the Freshmart parking lot from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., a free kids’ carnival on the school field from noon to 4 p.m. and a country jam in the Stella Maris Hall from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The Fog Festival parade Monday, Sept. 3 will leave from the Patrick Connors Recreation Complex at 11:30 a.m. and the theme is “Story Book”. There will be a quiet zone from the arena to 453/460 Main Street with no lights or sirens in this area.
After the parade floggy dogs will be on sale provided by the Knights of Columbus and there will a gospel concert in Main Street Park starting at 1 p.m.
A kids carnival will be held on the school field from noon to 4 p.m. and there will be an antique car show and shine in the Freshmart parking lot immediately following the parade.
The annual horsepull will take place on the school field from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and bingo will get under way at the Stella Maris Hall starting at 6:30 p.m.
