Five arrested for aggravated attempted murder in Calais

Calais – On December 27th, 2017, five male subjects were arrested for aggravated attempted murder after an incident which took place in the area of Barker Street and The Calais Motor Inn.  Police are attempting to positively identify several of the subjects at this time.

At approximately 11:00 pm EST, the Calais Police were dispatched to the Calais Motor Inn for a report of shots fired. On arrival, the male victim advised two subjects open fire on him in the Barker Street and Calais Motor Inn area. Vehicle information was passed on to additional responding units, and the vehicle was spotted heading north on Baring Street in Calais. The vehicle was pulled over at the traffic circle in Calais, and the operator attempted to flee, but was taken into custody.

Occupants of the vehicle took off in the vehicle, and a chase ensued to Brookton, Maine, where the additional four suspects were taken into custody.

The victim of the crime was not injured during this attack.

Calais Police Department were assisted by Baileyville Police Department, Indian Township Police Department, Maine State Police, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, US Border Patrol and  Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
