Campobello man remanded until bail hearing - Mar. 12, 2014

St. Stephen
A 30-year-old Campobello man has been remanded to jail until Wednesday when he will appear in Saint John court for a bail hearing at 9:30 a.m.
Matthew Stanley appeared Monday morning before Provincial Court Judge David C. Walker on a charge of uttering a death threat. Stanley elected trial by Provincial Court judge alone, and entered a not guilty plea.
Crown prosecutor Shara Munn objected to Stanley’s release on all grounds.
In a press release issued Tuesday, the RCMP said Campobello RCMP responded to an altercation around 10:50 p.m. Sunday at Wilson’s Beach involving four men. The police received a complaint that a firearm had been pointed and fired but no one was injured.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident and more charges are expected to be laid. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the RCMP at 755-1130 or to contact Crimestoppers (1-800-222-TIPS)
