Horizon Health provides interim funding for mammography unit - May. 07, 2014
The Charlotte County Hospital Foundation has launched a three-year fund raising campaign to purchase a digital direct radiography (DR) mammogram machine for the Charlotte County Hospital.
The machine, the $350,000 cost of which is being split by the provincial government and the foundation, will be in place at the CCH and operational by the fall.
Andrea Seymour, Chief Operating Officer, Horizon Health Network, said Horizon Health Network will finance the project until the foundation can raise its share of the money.
“The foundation and the province are in fact splitting the cost 50-50,” said Seymour, who noted Horizon Health Network allows hospital foundations to request bridge funding in advance of fundraising efforts.
New Brunswick’s Health Minister Ted Flemming, Charlotte-Campobello MLA Curtis Malloch, CCH Foundation chair Steve Backman and CCH facility administrator Sharon Tucker were all present at a ceremony last week to announce the mammography machine’s arrival and the launch of the fund raising campaign.
Backman said he was pleased to announce more than $15,000 had already been received for the campaign before it had even officially started. The goal is to raise $50,000 per year for the next three years, with the foundation topping off the fundraising, if necessary, he stated.
