The town of St. George has a new Chief Administrative Officer: and Penny Henneberry will be starting work Sept. 8.
Mayor Sharon Tucker announced at last month’s town council meeting that the appointment of the new CAO had been approved and accepted but said she could not announce the name until the August meeting as Henneberry had to notify her employers.
Prior to this appointment she was vice-president of the Planning Directors’ Association of Nova Scotia and chair of the EMO committee with the Nova Scotia Association of Municipal Administrators.
Henneberry is a graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University, the College of Geographic Sciences and the Technical University of Nova Scotia (Dalhousie).
She has 25 years of experience working at all levels of government and the private industry with the majority of her experience working at the municipal government level, said Tucker.
Henneberry succeeds Jamie Carr who left St. George to take a similar position with the town of Saint Andrews. The mayor said she is currently looking for a residence to rent in town until she can find a place of her own.
Henneberry volunteers with the Canadian Red Cross, the Special Olympics and the Colony of Mayflower Descendants. She has been a member of the Cadet Instructor Cadre for 21 years and hopes to continue working with cadets in St. George.
