Atlanticade to help local cancer patient - Jun. 15, 2010
ST. ANDREWS — The Atlanticade Motorcycle Festival will host two fund raising events to support the local Hope For Chelsea campaign.
“Just recently our committee was made aware of the challenges this young girl deals with on a daily basis and the efforts being put forth to find a cure for her particular form of cancer” said Atlanticade chairman Dale Hicks.
Chelsea, 18, is the daughter of Marlene and Brent Allaby, and suffers from a rare form of neuroblastoma cancer.
Hicks and members of the organizing committee met with Chelsea and her parents after being contacted by Hope For Chelsea committee coordinator Randall Goodwin.
The campaign raises funds to financially assist Chelsea and her family in seeking treatment for her cancer.
“For someone who must deal with day-today health issues she certainly was an inspiration to our committee. In fact she and her parents provide an example of how to remain positive and grateful when facing adversity.
To me she is one of God's angels on earth” stated Hicks.
Saturday evening, July 3, singer Julian Austin will perform at a benefit concert at the W. C. O'Neill Arena Complex with all proceeds going to Hope For Chelsea fund. Tickets at $22 each will soon go on sale at various locations throughout Charlotte County.
On the final day of Atlanticade there is an auction as part of the closing breakfast at the Algonquin Hotel. All proceeds from that auction will go directly to the fund for Chelsea.
“As a non-profit organization we are pleased to be able to assist such a worthwhile cause and make a small contribution towards financial support for the Allaby family while they deal with finding a cure for Chelsea” said Hicks.
