Suspect in Blue Moon blaze bound for court - Mar. 22, 2012

St. Stephen
A summons has been issued for a St. Martin’s man to appear in court May 1 to face an arson charge in connection with a fire that destroyed the Blue Moon Motel here June 5, 2010.
The charge alleges John Elvis O’Dell, 47, “did intentionally or recklessly cause damage by fire” to the motel situated at 310 Mowat Drive.
The fire broke out shortly after 4 a.m. and the alarm was raised by a neighbor on Mowat Drive. The north end of the front section of the motel was gutted in the blaze, which spread through the attic of the building, destroying 13 of the 37 units.
The motel had been owned by Gordon and Kim Lankisch for about 10 years and it was previously owned by Charles Lankisch. There are now “For Sale” signs on the property.
