Former legion home set for sale - Jan. 23, 2013

St. Stephen
The Milltown Legion has a buyer for its former headquarters at 444 Milltown Blvd.
Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 48 received a letter in the mail Monday informing them the town intended to turn over ownership of the building to the legion.
The letter stated that once that happens, the legion intends to sell the building for $68,000 to the St. Croix Christian Centre.
The letter stated the transactions will take place simultaneously once the town receives a letter of confirmation from the New Brunswick Legion Command verifying the funds from the purchase of the building will stay with the Milltown Legion for as long as that legion branch retains its charter.
Last fall, legion members voted to give up their headquarters because of rising costs and declining membership and have sought alternate meeting accommodations.
The legion members now meet at Humphreys’ Funeral Home.
