Middle school volleyball teams bound for Moncton - May. 15, 2014
Seven Charlotte County teams among the 88 in Moncton for Middle School Cup
The Moncton Agrena promises to be jam-packed with volleyball throughout the weekend; just reading the Middle School Cup schedule can be hectic.
Eighty-eight middle school volleyball teams from around the province of New Brunswick will be in the Hub City for the annual tournament – 29 boys teams divided into two tiers and 59 girls teams also separated into two tiers.
St. Stephen Middle School, who last year won the tier 2 girls championship and lost in the semi-finals on the boys tier 2 side, will again be sending both teams to the Middle School Cup. Fundy High School, which boasts an impressive middle school volleyball program, will be sending a total of five teams – three girls and two boys – to the tournament.
The boys squads will play four round robin games today, before one team in each tier is left standing tomorrow. The girls, because of larger numbers, will play just three round robin games beginning tomorrow. A champion in each tier will be crowned on Sunday.
