IRWIN, Mildred Audrey, MBE

In Fredericton, Veterans Health Unit on February 20, 2018. Mildred was born on May 13, 1920, in St. George, NB, the daughter of the late John Oliver and Bettie Spinney. She is survived by her sisters, Dorothea Baldwin of Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen, and Bettie-Anne Boulter of Fredericton; sisters-in-law, Joan Spinney and Gaye Spinney, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Ferris Ray Irwin, her sister Jean Dunlap, brothers James and John Spinney, and brothers-in-law Donald Baldwin, James H. Dunlap, and Les Boulter. Mildred was educated in St. George and Saint John, and was employed by the Public Service Commission in Ottawa, prior to joining the Royal Canadian Air Force, Women’s Division. She was posted to RCAF Overseas Headquarters in London, England. During her service she was appointed a Member of the British Empire (MBE). Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB. A service will take place at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, McEvoy Street, in Fredericton on Friday, February 23 at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in the spring at St. George Rural Cemetery.
