At Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen, NB on Thursday, December 21, 2017, Paul Gray Johnson, husband of Marie (McFarlane) Johnson of Rolling Dam, NB. Born in St. Stephen, he is the son of the late Oscar Wiley and Clara Mabel (McCrum) Johnson. Paul thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, had a passion for his tractor. Early in his life he built his own sawmill that he worked every day. He did a lot of custom sawing, cutting logs for a number of people in the community. He and Marie took great enjoyment in going to Calais to square dance for almost 20 years. They could also be seen at Murphy’s Dance Off. Surviving, in addition to his wife Marie of 66 years, are his children, Winston (May McAllister), Paulette Parker (Kenneth), all of St. Stephen, Julie Johnson-Meek (Keith) of Jacksonville, Florida, and Heidi Johnson of Waweig, NB; two sisters, Lois Lombard (Tom McVitty) of Ontario, and Eleanor Craig of St. Andrews, NB; eight grandsons, Bradley, Luke, Kirk, Phillip, Ben, Joe, Adam, Brook; two granddaughters, Rayna and Willow; several great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul was predeceased by three brothers, Blair, Hewitt and Robert, one sister, Iris. The funeral service in celebration of his life was held on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, NB E3L 2B2 (506-466-3110). Rev. Gord Walsh officiated. The organist was June Biddle. Euology was given by Luke Johnson. Special musical tribute was given by Allan Johnson. A reception immediately followed in the reception centre of the funeral home, provided by the St. Stephen-Milltown Lionettes. The interment will take place in the spring.
