Allen Lyons passed away peacefully at the Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrews, NB on the 5th of April, 2018; husband of Marjorie Lyons (Morehouse) of St. Andrews, NB. Born in Storeytown, NB, he was the son of Astley and Helen (Ward) Lyons.
Allen grew up in Doaktown, NB when, after graduation, was briefly employed with the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources. In 1964 he moved to Gagnon, Quebec where he was employed with DuPont Canada prior to being transferred to Bathurst, NB as explosives plant manager where he remained until his retirement.
He enjoyed being in the outdoors, spending time with friends and family and had a strong love of animals.
Allen was a member of the St. George’s Anglican church in Bathurst, NB and is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marjorie (Morehouse), St. Andrews, NB; son, Troy Lyons (Susy Lanteigne), Oak Bay, NB; mother, Helen (Ward) Lyons, and sister, Rowena Braysford (Steve), St. Stephen, NB, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and is predeceased by his father Astley and son Johnnie.
The funeral service in celebration of Allen’s life was held at Humphreys’ Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, NB on Tuesday, April 10 at 2 p.m. Archdeacon John Matheson officiating, assisted by Rev. Dinesh Gomes. Euology was given by son Troy. Scriptures were read by Ray Bishop. A reception followed in the funeral home reception centre. A brief service will be held at a later date at the community cemetery in South Tetagouche, NB.
