At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB, on August 11, 2018, Mr. Nelson Andrew MacKenzie, beloved husband to Carole Ann (Eldridge) MacKenzie of Beaver Harbour, NB. Born in Saint John, NB, on August 1, 1937, he was a son of the late Hurd and Florence (Dempsey) MacKenzie.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother-in-law, in addition to his loving wife Carole, he is survived by his daughter, Donna (Nelson) Boone of Pennfield, NB; sons, David (Sherry) MacKenzie of British Columbia and D.S. Mack MacKenzie of Saint John, NB; and his grandchildren, Teagan, Madeline, Gracelyn, Natasha and Tara.
He was predeceased by his parents and twin brothers, Ralph and Tom.
Prior to his retirement Nelson worked several years as a truck driver for General Dairies and later for Baxter’s Dairy. He then came to Beaver Harbour and began a new career as the Harbour Wharfinger, which he was still doing at the time of his passing. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast and loved his road adventures, as well as a dedicated family man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Work and family was his life. He will be sadly missed by his family and community.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB. Although there was no visitation, a celebration of Nelson’s life was held at the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Bill Lea officiating, followed by a reception immediately following at the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Charlotte County Cancer or a charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
