Tower Hill man charged with drug trafficking
A 47-year-old Tower Hill man waived his bail hearing in Saint John Provincial Court Thursday morning on a number of drug-related charges and was remanded in custody until Dec. 29 for election and plea.
Joseph Darrin Burns has been charged with four counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, as well as two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, unsafe storage of a firearm, breach of conditions, and resisting arrest.
He was arrested Dec. 2 following the execution of a search warrant by the St. Stephen RCMP at his home where police seized a quantity of substances believed to be cocaine and marijuana, as well as various pills believed to be Ritalin, morphine, hydromorphone and Ativan. Police also seized a firearm and two prohibited weapons (brass knuckles and a butterfly knife).
