AKAGI, Ramona – It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our angel, Ramona, on Friday, March 19, 2021 at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB. Ramona was born April 21, 1982 in St. Stephen, NB; she is the beloved daughter of John and Theresa (Bryant) Akagi.
Ramona graduated from Sir James Dunn Academy in St. Andrews, NB and from NBCC Fredericton Centre. For several years she worked in daycare settings in Fredericton before she moved back to St. Andrews to work at Garden by the Sea, where she learned customer service and a love of flowers. Most recently she has been employed at The Great Canadian Store in St. Andrews. She quickly settled in at the store and her coworkers became like family to her.
Mona loved all animals, but cats were special to her and of course her favorite puppies, Jasper and Ben. She enjoyed baking, gathering recipes, crocheting, seeing field full of lupins and she was an expert with puzzles. She loved spending time with her nieces. Madison loved giggling with Auntie Mo over cat memes and Avery knew she could always count on Auntie Mo to share her candy stash. Mona thrived on family gatherings and summer visits with her Toronto family.
Ramona will be forever missed by her parents, her sisters, Gillian Akagi-Kerr (Jeremiah), Karyn Leavitt, Alyssa Akagi (Shawn) and Auntie Mo’s adored nieces, Madison and Avery. Ramona also leaves behind her beloved aunts and uncles, cousins that were just like brothers and sisters to her, all the new generation of little cousins, who she thought the world of, and her special friends.
Ramona will always be remembered for her loving and giving heart, for always of thinking of others before herself and her beautiful smile.
The family will receive friends at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 2 – 4 p.m. Please keep in mind that physical distancing and masks are mandatory during the visitation.
Interment will take place at St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Andrews, NB.
For those who wish, donations in memory of Ramona may be made to the Charlotte County SPCA or a charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.mehanfuneralhome.ca
