Annual kick-off to Christmas happens with Downtown Dollar blowout sale and more

ST. STEPHEN – Ready or not, it’s that time of year; the holiday season is creeping upon us. But Heather Donohue at Downtown St. Stephen says the group has your back; Downtown St. Stephen is once again hosting its annual Downtown Dollar blowout sale.

“The sale happens one day only,” said Donohue. “On Friday, Nov. 19, the Downtown St. Stephen Dollars will be sold at a 10 per cent discount, to a maximum of $200 per person.”

Downtown Dollars work just like cash and can be redeemed at participating St. Stephen businesses.

As shoppers increasingly look for ways to support their local economies, Downtown Dollars do just that; allowing people to shop locally for unique items while supporting local entrepreneurs.

“By giving Downtown Dollars, you’re supporting the hard-working business owners in our community and helping to sustain the local economy,” says Donohue.

Downtown dollars can be purchased at the Downtown St. Stephen office Friday, Nov. 19 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., at 93 Milltown Blvd. (the Canada Post building), 3rd floor, suite 228. For more information, contact Donohue directly at 466-7407 or email bia@chocolatetown.ca

“The annual St. Stephen kick-off to Christmas starts Friday as well,” says Donohue.

“The 2nd annual Walk of Lights on the waterfront across from the Garcelon Civic Center will be turned on for the holiday season, there will be Christmas music provided by the St. Croix Christian Centre, and the annual Midnight Madness sale will be taking place,” she added.

“During Moonlight Madness, the annual Christmas Passport becomes valid and will be available for pick up at most of the participating businesses,” says Donohue.

If you look through this edition of The Saint Croix Courier, you will find a passport to cut-out, and it will also be available on the St. Stephen Community Spirit Facebook page.

The rules to the passport are simple, and again support local businesses. Make a purchase at five participating businesses between Friday, Nov. 19 and Friday, Nov. 26, and receive a signature for a chance to win four $50 gift cards of your choice.

The deadline to drop-off your completed Passport is Friday, November 26 by 4 p.m. at the Ganong Chocolatier, 73 Milltown Blvd. Passport draw date will take place the week of Nov. 29.

Other holiday events include DIY ornaments, the annual lamp post decorating content, Christmas parade, and the chance to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Donahue added events are a joint venture between St. Stephen Area Chamber of Commerce, Downtown St. Stephen, and Town of St. Stephen. Details can be found on the St. Stephen Community Spirit Facebook page and Town of St. Stephen Facebook page throughout the holiday season.

If you are hosting an event and you want it on the town’s online calendar, go to town.ststephen.nb.ca/christmas-events-2021 submit the information and The Town of St. Stephen will add it to the list. Happy holidays!
