BURNS, Barry A.

Calais – Barry A. Burns, 81, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Calais Regional Hospital with family by his side. Barry was born in St. Stephen, NB, son of Barry H. and Dorothy (Andrews) Burns.

After graduating from Calais Memorial High School, Class of 1955, he attended Prep School in Pittsfield. Barry’s love for photography lead him to Rochester, NY, to attend training with Eastman-Kodak. He moved to New York City where he worked for KLM Color Lab for over 35 years. Following his retirement, Barry returned to Calais. He was a Communicant of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Calais and enjoyed attending Calais United Methodist Church. Barry will be remembered by all for his gentle and outgoing nature. He never had anything bad to say about anyone. 

In addition to his parents, Barry was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Raymond Wentworth, and his beloved feline companion Max. Surviving are his four sisters, Sandra Partridge-Scott and husband Wendell of Statesboro, GA, Geraldine Wentworth of Calais, Bonnie Dwelley and husband Llewellyn of Calais, and Joanne Landry and husband Bruce of Rochester, NH; a special cousin, Jane Marino of Calais; nieces and nephews, Daniel and David Eberhart, Ron Wentworth, Bonnie Puccio, Eric Firkey, Lisa Kennedy and Kristine Sullivan; cousins, Barbara Swenson and husband Pete of Bangor, Webber Burns of Milltown, NB, and Jerry Manual of St. Stephen, NB; and numerous dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Kevin Martin 10 a.m. (E.S.T.) Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Calais Ave., Calais. Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in Calais Cemetery. Donations in Barry’s memory may be made to PAWS, 368 South St., Calais, ME 04619.
