CASEY, Sister Marjorie Veronica – Sister Marjorie Veronica Casey (Sister Catherine Marie), a Grey Sister of the Immaculate Conception, Pembroke, ON, died in Pembroke on the 1st day of September, 2021 in the 66th year of her Religious Life.

  Left to mourn are the members of her Religious Community, her sister-in-law, Marie Paule, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

  Predeceased by parents, Roy Joseph and Mary Catherine (O’Brien), and her brother, Allan.

  Sister Marjorie was born on November 20, 1934, in St. Stephen N.B. She entered the Community on September 1, 1956, pronouncing final vows on August 9, 1961. A teacher by profession, she taught in various areas including Pembroke, Ottawa, Waubaushene, and as Principal in Port Credit, Eganville, and Timmins. Other ministries involved coordinator of Family Life Education, Timmins, consultant in Family Life Education, Simcoe County. During this time, Marjorie served on the writing team for the Family Life Education program, Fully Alive, sponsored by the Bishops of Ontario for use in the Separate Schools of the province.

  After retirement in 1995, Sr. Marjorie spent fourteen years as Pastoral Associate at St. Mary’s Parish, Barrie. Blessed with skills in music and voice, she served as Choir Director for many years. In retirement, she moved to Pembroke, where she continued to offer her special musical gifts at Caritas Residence. In 2011, Sister Marjorie also assumed the position of “Coordinator of Wakes and Funerals” for the GSIC Community, as well as committee work and other services where needed.  Her final years were spent at Shalom Residence.

  There will be no visitation. All COVID protocols are to be observed at the Funeral Liturgy which will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Lourdesview Drive, Pembroke, on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. Interment in St. Columba’s Cemetery.
