Foul play ruled out in case of body found in Mayfield

MAYFIELD – Foul play has been ruled out in the case of the body found last week in Mayfield by the New Brunswick Coroner’s office, states an RCMP press release.

A property owner called St. Stephen RCMP around 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, after finding a man’s body in a wooded area close to Route 735.

Mayfield is the area in which area resident Luke Cunningham is presumed to have disappeared, having been last seen walking northbound on Sept. 4 on Route 735 near the Barter Settlement Road. Cunningham was reported missing Sept. 7.

RCMP have yet to confirm the identity of the body, with several police services working to do so.

The investigation is ongoing.
