Future St. Stephen hosting job fair

ST. STEPHEN – Future St. Stephen will host a Charlotte County Job Connection job fair later this month.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 16 at the Garcelon Civic Center in St. Stephen.

Future St. Stephen president Ian Williams said 30 employers are signed up and registrations were open until late last week to accommodate any companies still wanting to be involved.

“Our target was to get 30 employers to be there,” said Williams.

There will be a virtual component to accompany the in-person event. The online version will run from March 8 to 17. The virtual event, for those unable to attend in person, can be found on careersthatwork.ca.

There will be free child care on site. Charlotte Dial-a-Ride is providing free transportation to and from the fair as long as bookings are made at least 48 hours in advance.

The objectives of the fair are twofold, noted Williams. Some employers will be actively looking to fill open positions. There’s also an informational aspect of the fair to let people know the types of companies and jobs available in the region.

“There’ll be representatives from each employer,” said Williams, to speak with people attending the job fair to give attendees information about the companies. “Most of them will be there actively looking for people who are looking for work.”

Employers will be at the fair from across Charlotte County including Grand Manan and McAdam.

“It’s definitely a wider area than just St. Stephen,” Williams said.
