Man sent to hospital after shooting in Chamcook; one arrested

CHAMCOOK – One man has been arrested after a shooting in Chamcook left a second man with non-life-threatening injuries.

St. George RCMP responded to a shooting at a Chamcook residence on May 1 at approximately 5:15 p.m., according to a police news release.

Paramedics transported a 38-year-old man to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound.

Police arrested 22-year-old Samuel Needler at the scene. He appeared in court Tuesday morning where he was charged with assault with a weapon, careless use of a firearm and pointing a firearm.

Needler was released on conditions and is due to appear in court on May 30.

The RCMP said in a statement they believe the incident is isolated and there is no danger to the general public.

The investigation is continuing.
