A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Ronald is survived by his children: Sean Neathway (Jacqueline Sullivan) of Saint John, NB and Shannon Neathway (Matthew McKinley) of Pennfield, NB; five grandchildren: Drew, Brandi, Jordan, Katherine and Sadie; two step-grandchildren: Michael and Lauren; great-grandchildren: Melody and Catrina; his respected but separated spouse of 46 years: Laurie Neathway of Bethel, NB; his brothers: Charles (Mary) Neathway and Jeff Neathway, both of British Columbia, David Neathway (Marilyn Hawkins) of L’Etang, NB and Philip Neathway of Miramichi, NB; sisters: Margaret Butler of Chatham, NB and Judy (Teddy) Vail of St. George, NB; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Mary Giddens.
During his working life, Ronald worked in many sectors but in the end retired from the Maintenance Department at the Charlotte County Hospital. An avid outdoorsman, he spent many hours in the woods, whether it was camping, hunting with his son or friends, or cutting wood, he enjoyed living his life outside. A true “grease monkey” Ronald never seemed happy unless he had something to keep his hands busy and was always tinkering with old cars he brought home. In his quiet time, he loved reading and was known to have many books on the go at once. While he was taken from us suddenly, we will hold his memories close.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB. As keeping with Ronald’s wishes, there will be no formal visitation or funeral service. A celebration of his life was held at the home of his sister, Judy, on July 17, 2021 from 2-5 p.m. In his memory, donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
