BOSTON — A delegation representing some 75 seafood businesses from around New Brunswick recently returned from the 2024 Seafood Expo North America, in Boston.

It’s one of the North American seafood industry’s largest marketing events, this year attracting about 19,000 seafood buyers and suppliers from 110 countries from March 10 to 12.

“New Brunswick seafood is enjoyed in 54 countries around the world,” fisheries minister Margaret Johnson said in a press release. “It is a success story, but we must continue to find new markets. Seafood Expo North America was the perfect opportunity for New Brunswick seafood firms to find new customers. Their success will increase seafood exports, which create well-paying jobs and benefit our communities economically.”

Johnson added that while in Boston, she met her federal and provincial counterparts to discuss policy and market access issues.

New Brunswick seafood exports valued $1.7 billion in 2023, according to government figures.
