Realta to perform in Calais this weekend, on Sunday, March 8

Calais – Just in time to help celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Calais Celtic Concerts will present, the Award Winning group from the Ulster city of  Belfast Ireland, Realta, at the Calais High School this Sunday, March 8 at 6 p.m. EDT. The doors will open at 5 p.m. EDT.

Described by Irish Music Magazine as “A full bodied pipe and whistle extravaganza”, Realta make full use of the intricate melodies and driving rhythms that make Irish music so loved throughout the world. Performing on dueling uilleann pipes, whistles, bodhran, guitar, bouzouki, bass, and vocals, this award winning, Belfast based band will lead the listener on a journey of music and song through the full range of Irish tradition. The group consists of five “All-Ireland Award” winning members!

Realta take a lively, exciting and respectful approach to Irish traditional music. Reared on a staple diet of The Bothy Band, Planxty and other such classics, this Belfast group captures the timeless aspects of the tradition and presents it in its raw form – fresh and beautiful. The Irish News remarks of them as “The New Stars of Traditional Music”. The Herald Scotland says; “They take tunes by the scruff of the neck, firing excitement through them likes flames!”

A performance by Realta is joyous, energetic, foot-stomping, unforgettable and unmissable!
