At his residence on Monday, February 24, 2020, Hazen K. Roy passed away peacefully after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Born in St. Stephen, NB, son of the late Vernon and Jessie (Deacon) Roy.
Hazen had various jobs throughout his work life, including Good Neighbour Drug Mart (where he met the “love of his life”), Unemployment Insurance and Canada Border Services Agency, where he had a 30-year career, retiring in 2010.
Hazen was a lover of all things sports, especially his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Hazen is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joannie (Lee); son, Rod (Melodie); granddaughter, Chelsea Roy; brother, Phillip; mother-in-law, Barbara Lee; sisters-in-law, Jeannie (Steve), Janice and Jeanne; brothers-in-law, Harry and Murray (Lisa); cousins, nieces, nephews and a very large group of friends.
In addition to his parents, Hazen was predeceased by his son Jesse, grandson Hunter, brothers-in-law Kenny, Ally and Donnie.
Rested at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB from where the funeral service was held on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 2 p.m. Visiting hours were held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 6-8 p.m.
Interment at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, St. Stephen, NB.
