SAINT ANDREWS — Sunbury Shores Arts & Nature Centre is seeking artists to take part in its 60th anniversary exhibition, Celebrating 60 Years, which is scheduled to run Sept. 6 to 27.

The exhibition will be “a celebration of the creative inspiration, artistic excellence and cultural diversity of emerging and senior artists who exhibited or worked at Sunbury Shores as well as teaching courses and workshops or participating as artists in residence during six decades,” said a press release from the centre.

Dorothy Meigs Eidlitz founded Sunbury Shores in 1964, sparking a period of growth for the arts in Charlotte County and the province.

“She left a legacy that has continued to support artists and the arts community,” said the press release. “Eidlitz‘s innovation, inspiration and philanthropy have benefitted and supported many artists in New Brunswick and elsewhere.”

Eidlitz was an amateur photographer who practised her art around St. Andrews while collecting rare 19th-century photographs, many of which are in the National Gallery of Canada collection.

For the anniversary exhibition, Sunbury is seeking a range of creations from local artists, who can sell artwork with no exhibition fees. The registration deadline is July 31. Learn more on the centre’s website.
