St. Stephen – Effective February 1, 2020, the Town of St. Stephen’s Planning and Development Services will be provided by the Southwest New Brunswick Service Commission (SNBSC). The Town’s Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) functions will transition to the Planning Review & Adjustment Committee (PRAC) which serves the region.
The Town of St. Stephen is seeking one individual residing in the community to serve on the PRAC. In joining the committee, this individual will form part of a diverse team to advise and make recommendations to council, the minister of environment, and local government on matters relating to local planning.
Supported by professional planning staff, the PRAC members will make rulings on minor development applications under the direction of by-laws, regulations, and the community planning act. Committee members should have some basic knowledge of the planning and local government functions, as well as experience on volunteer-based committees. In addition, the committee is seeking a diversity of skills (e.g., legal, planning, design, etc.).
The term of this appointment is four years, with an expected commitment of one meeting per month, as well as at least one other training session annually. A per diem and mileage will be provided. This volunteer role requires travel throughout the region.
