Marvin (Marv) James Weatherby, born in Pomeroy Ridge, N.B., on May 4, 1927 and left us on February 17, 2018 from Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen, N.B. Husband, father, grandfather, friend, Marv left us peacefully, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Viona Weatherby; his children, Ron (Siobhan) of Kingston, Ont., Sue (Erica Raymond), St. Stephen N.B., and Robert of Saint John, N.B.; his grandchildren, Mason and Kelly; many nieces, nephews and brothers/sisters-in-law and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, James (Jim) and Violet Weatherby of Oak Bay, N.B., his brother, Gordon Weatherby of Hamilton, Ont., and his grandson, Christopher (Rabbit) Torma – Weatherby of Richmond, B.C. Marv lived in Toronto, Ont., and many towns and cities in the Maritime provinces before settling in Sydney, N.S., where he lived for forty years, raising his children and looking after his family while working for CNCP Telecommunications. He moved home to Oak Bay, N.B. in 1990 for his retirement and spent more than twenty years working in the woods on the family land, which he loved dearly. He was a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club, both in Sydney, and in St. Stephen, and was a faithful member of the United Church, both in Nova Scotia, and at the Kirk-McColl United Church in St. Stephen. He was a life-long learner, his insatiable curiosity leading him to many friendships and adventures throughout his life. According to Marvin’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen, N.B., St. Stephen Home Support Services, the St. Stephen Kiwanis Club or the Canadian Parkinsons Society.
